Stanley Allan Sherman is a early graduate of, Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Theatre, Mime Movement in Paris France when Philippe Gaulier first taught there. He was in the original cast of the Off Broadway hit show, Grandma Sylvia's Funeral that ran for 4 years. On NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien he has been in over 41 comedy bits.
As a young performer Stanley made his living performing street theatre for years in Paris and New York City. He is known for his solo clown and Commedia dell'Arte style shows that toured around the country and the featured show in many festivals for over 25 years. A few of the Festivals include the Pittsburgh International Children's Festival and International Clown-Theatre Festival at Ohio State University. Stanley Allan Sherman's AERO SHOW Featuring The Star Spangled Banner was critic's choice in the Los Angles Times and received rave review around the country.
He was a teacher and mask maker in the late 70 working with the master of Commedia dell'Arte, Carlo Mazzone-Clementi at Dell'Arte School of Mime and Comedy in Blue Lake, California. He has also taught mime at Portland State University, clown at American Musical & Dramatic Academy and Kent State University. Stanley has been brought in to teach Commedia dell'Arte intensive and mask at Tiyatro Maan in Istanbul Turkey, Hofstra University, Kean University, Hunter College, College of William and Mary, Hostos Community College/CUNY, DeSales University and others.
As a master mask-maker and leather craftsman he has been making Commedia dell'Arte masks since 1976 and created the world famous Mankind Mask (the Arlecchino of the WWF) for the World Wrestling Federation, the Queen and Daughter masks for Queen of the Night in NYC, lots of Commedia dell'Arte masks for performers, theater companies, schools and universities, the Metaphysical Mask . He had the longest running exhibition in the history of the New York Lincoln Center Museum of the Performing Arts. As a leather craftsman he has traded leather techniques and secrets with leather workers from around the world.
Stanley directed and developed the children's show Bride of Beowulf, which toured for over 3 years. Directed and developed Gautham in his solo Clown Show that toured China and Japan and he directed David Scott Milton's, Duet for Solo Voice receiving excellent reviews, the award winning dramatic and funny solo ballet and circus show Now Leasing and more. He has written three full length plays, was a board member of the Association of Theatre Artists and Craftspeople was the editor of the ATAC Quarterly. Stanley also continues to act in films and local and national commercials and has the co-lead roll in the film Into the Abyss which in still shooting. He is a member of Actors Equity Association, Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
